Dr. Sadanandan Nambiar’s contributions include (i) leading research for sustainable management, especially plantation forests and farm forests for economic development and environmental care (ii) science- based policy development (iii) fostering national and multi-national partnerships, capacity building and mentoring and (iv) Leadership and management of R&D organizations. He has authored/co-authored many publications on temperate and tropical forest science, including on sustainable plantation forestry in the tropics, especially SE Asia. He is an advocate promoting forestry for rural development, land restoration, climate change mitigation and more importantly for poverty reduction.

Sadanandan’s awards include N W Jolly Medal from Forestry Australia, IUFRO Host Scientific Award, Distinguished Scientist (SSSA, USA), Medal of Excellence from Commonwealth Forestry Association (UK/Australia), Hans Merensky Fellow, South Africa, and Medal from Vietnam.

He is appointed by the Government of Australia to the Honors – Officer of the Order of Australia.
