Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Thu is a senior expert at the Vietnam Academy of Forest Sciences (VAFS), with recognized expertise in forest protection, forest pathology, and tree breeding. He formerly served as Director of the Forest Protection Research Center and was a member of the Interdisciplinary Professorial Council in Agriculture and Forestry (2019–2025).
His research focuses on diseases affecting acacia species (including hybrid acacia, Acacia auriculiformis, and Acacia mangium) and sustainable forest protection strategies. He has led numerous ministerial- and national-level projects on forest tree diseases, particularly acacia diseases during 2017–2021.
Prof. Thu is widely recognized for his contributions to forest genetic resource management and protection, supporting the sustainable development of plantation forests and timber supply chains. He currently serves as Vice President of the Vietnam Mycological Society, where he promotes research on fungal diversity, forest pathology, and integrated disease management for sustainable forestry.
